Pin Notes — Privacy Policy

Pin Notes is a Chrome extension that lets a team leave comments on specific spots of a web page and share those comments with each other. This policy explains what it handles and where that information goes.

In short: Pin Notes sends what you type, and the address of the page you typed it on, to a Google Sheet that your own team sets up and controls. It sends nothing to the developer, and nothing to anyone else.

What Pin Notes handles

The notes you write. The text you type into a note.
The address of the page the note was written on, without any query string or anchor.
Your name, as you type it into the extension's own settings, so colleagues can see who left which note.
Where you clicked — a position within the page element you clicked, and a short snippet of that element's text, so the note can be shown in the right place when the page is opened again.

What it does not handle

It does not read pages you browse. It only runs on a page in the moment you click its icon.
It does not collect your browsing history, passwords, payment details, location or health information.
It does not use cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind.

Where the information goes

Your team sets up its own Google Sheet and its own Google Apps Script web app, and each person enters that link in the extension's settings. Notes are sent there and nowhere else. That sheet belongs to your team's Google account: the developer of Pin Notes has no access to it and receives no copy of anything.

A copy of your own notes is also kept in your browser's local storage, so pins appear immediately when you open a page, and so nothing is lost if the connection drops. Your name and the team link are kept in Chrome's own extension settings.

Who can see your notes

Anyone on your team who has the same team link, since the point of the tool is to share feedback. Notes should be treated as visible to colleagues. Pin Notes is intended for comments about web pages, and should not be used for passwords, personal data or anything confidential.

Keeping and deleting information

Notes stay in your team's sheet until someone removes them. You can delete a note from the extension itself, and whoever administers the sheet can delete rows or the entire sheet at any time. Removing the extension clears the copy held in your browser. Because your team owns the sheet, requests to access or delete information are handled by your team, not by the developer.

Selling and sharing

No information handled by Pin Notes is sold, rented or transferred to third parties. It is not used for advertising, for building profiles, for assessing creditworthiness, or for any purpose other than showing your team its own notes.

Children

Pin Notes is a workplace tool and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will change with it.
